1. Purpose
Humble Care may use photographs, videos, interviews, quotations or personal stories to communicate about its humanitarian and community-support activities.
This document establishes the principles for obtaining consent before using identifiable information for public communication.
2. No Automatic Permission
Core Protection Principle: Participation in a Humble Care program, assistance application or volunteer activity does not automatically give Humble Care permission to publish a person's identifiable photograph, video, story or personal information.
Separate and appropriate consent should be obtained where identifiable publicity is intended.
3. Possible Uses
Where valid consent has been provided, material may be used for legitimate Humble Care purposes such as:
- Website content;
- Mobile application content;
- Social media;
- Awareness campaigns;
- Educational materials;
- Program reports;
- Fundraising communications;
- Community outreach;
- Presentations; and
- Other organizational communications.
4. Children and Minors
Extra care must be taken when photographs, videos or stories involve children.
Appropriate parental, guardian or other legally appropriate authorization should be obtained where required.
Humble Care should avoid publishing information that unnecessarily exposes a child to risk, embarrassment, exploitation or unwanted identification in strict alignment with our Child Safeguarding & Protection Policy.
5. Respect and Dignity
Publicity materials should represent beneficiaries and community members respectfully.
Humble Care will not intentionally use photographs, stories or descriptions in a misleading, degrading or exploitative manner.
6. Personal Stories
A person's story may contain sensitive information.
Where a story identifies an individual, Humble Care should obtain appropriate consent and should avoid including unnecessary sensitive details.
7. Voluntary Consent
Where publicity consent is optional, refusing to provide consent should not by itself affect a person's eligibility for Humble Care assistance or participation in any program.
8. Withdrawal of Consent
A person may contact Humble Care at any time to withdraw publicity consent.
Withdrawal does not necessarily require Humble Care to remove material that has already been printed, distributed, archived or published where removal is technically or practically difficult.
Humble Care will consider reasonable requests concerning future use.
9. Volunteers and Staff
Strict Prohibition: Volunteers and staff must not independently publish identifiable photographs, videos or beneficiary stories obtained through Humble Care activities without appropriate authorization.
